Michael is a Partner in Grimshaw’s Sydney studio, with over fifteen years’ experience in the design, management, and documentation of projects from inception through to completion. He has worked across a range of sectors including education, science, healthcare, commercial, sports and mixed-use developments and has designed and built projects in Australia, the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Michael’s expertise spans traditional architectural commissions, to the design and production of specialised building components. He has led multi-disciplinary teams in providing tailored solutions for projects where complex site, time and budget constraints are the driving factors.
As the Project Principal for the award winning Materials Science and Engineering Building → (MSEB) at the University of New South Wales, Michael led an integrated international project team. The success of this project has resulted in another commission at the University, with Grimshaw appointed to design the new Chemical Science and Engineering Building adjacent to the MSEB.
Michael is currently the Project Director of the new city centre for the Marassi Al Bahrain reclaimed island in Bahrain. This mixed-use master plan project comprises three key character neighbourhoods including a retail mall, residential apartments, a VIDA and Address Hotel and serviced apartments, covering an area of 250,000 sqm. Michael is responsible for Grimshaw’s global architectural and sub-consultant team, working across three continents.
